What OCPP is
OCPP is the open language between a charge point and a management platform. If a unit speaks OCPP, you can register it on nearly any platform.
What a platform does for you
Track sessions, manage users, set tariffs, create invoices and spot faults before the customer calls. Without a platform you only have a socket.
Charge cards and public charging
With a charge card a user starts a session in their own name. Anyone who opens their charge point to the public can also let visitors charge and bill that energy.
Why this matters when selling
An open unit keeps your customer free to switch platform later. That argument closes more deals than a euro of difference in purchase price.
