Connecting to any CPMS: OCPP url, proxy and cable sizing
For B2B partners: how to put an Autel unit on your own platform, what a proxy url does and how to size the cable correctly.
Autel works with the platform you already use
Every Autel unit speaks OCPP 1.6J (and OCPP 2.0.1 where available), so you can connect the charger to virtually any CPMS on the market. You do not need a platform from us, you keep your own contracts, tariffs and billing.
How the connection works in practice
You send us the OCPP url of your own platform, together with the identifier you want per charge point. We configure the unit before delivery so it registers with your platform as soon as it powers up. No on-site configuration is needed beyond the network (SIM or LAN).
What a proxy url solves for you
On request we configure the unit with a proxy url: the OCPP connection passes through to your platform while we can see what happens. In case of a fault, a firmware issue or a warranty case we can look along without you exporting logs. Your platform stays in charge of sessions and billing.
Cable sizing, the four factors
Always account for four things: the continuous current of the unit, the cable length, the voltage drop (keep it under 3 percent up to the unit) and the installation method (buried, in conduit, bundled). The breaker follows from the cable, not the other way around.
Rules of thumb per power level
A 7.4 kW AC point (32 A, single phase) starts at 6 mm² copper, a 22 kW AC point (32 A, three phase) at 5G6 mm² up to roughly 30 metres, then 10 mm². For 40 kW DC expect about 25 mm², for 120 kW 95 to 120 mm² or a dedicated low voltage supply. Beyond 50 metres, step up one size.
Do not forget this in your file
Provide a separate residual current device per charge point, an earth resistance that meets the local standard, and a load balancing measurement on the main supply. On distributed DC systems the cable run between power cabinet and dispenser determines the power that actually arrives, so measure it separately.
