AC or DC charging, which do you pick?

The key difference in two minutes, with a simple rule of thumb per situation.

The difference in one sentence

With AC the car converts the power to its battery itself, with DC the unit does it. That makes DC much faster, but also heavier and more expensive to install.

Rule of thumb: how long does the car stand still?

If the car stands longer than three hours, AC is almost always the right choice. If it has to leave within the hour, you need DC.

What that means for your connection

An AC unit runs on an ordinary connection up to 32 amps. A DC unit needs a power connection and at high output even a dedicated transformer. Check this before you promise a unit.

Which Autel units fit

For AC, use the AC Compact, the Single Charger or the AC Ultra with two charge points. For DC, start with the DC Compact 50 kW, against a wall, on a pedestal or mobile on wheels. For high volumes, move to the distributed systems.
